COMPENSATION POLICY

At Clean Freaks, we believe in providing clear expectations and fair compensation for the work our team members perform. This section outlines the  details on how employees are paid, including wage structure, pay periods, tips, incentives, and any applicable taxes.

COMPENSATION

Employees are compensated for the total number of hours worked per day spent servicing client homes. Clean Freaks operates on a bi-weekly pay schedule, with paydays falling on Thursdays.  Employees are paid via direct deposit.

  • If payday falls on a Company-recognized holiday, pay will be distributed on the last business day prior to the holiday
  • Paychecks will reflect hours worked in the prior pay period, and may include:
  • Tips
  • Bonuses
  • Approved reimbursable expenses (e.g., parking under company guidelines)

Note: Clean Freaks does not release paychecks early, nor are paychecks available to be picked up by a third party under any circumstances.

FEDERAL TAXES

In compliance with federal law:

  • Federal income tax and Social Security (FICA) taxes are withheld from each paycheck
  • All employees must complete a Form W-4 (Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate) upon hire
  • Employees on visa status may be exempt from withholding under a valid tax treaty, and must notify management accordingly

TIME BASED PAY STRUCTURE

Clean Freaks Cleaning Service charges customers by the hour. A customer’s Time Allowed (TA) is based on home size, number of pets, cleaning frequency, and other variables. This system has been proven successful and efficient through years of experience.

What This Means for Cleaning Technicians:

You are paid at your hourly rate based on the time charged to the customer. Here’s how it works:

  • Jobs are billed in 15-minute increments.
      • Example: If a job is charged for 2 hours and 45 minutes, you are paid for 2 hours and 45 minutes.
  • If a job is completed in less time than the TA, the client is billed for the time used, and you are paid accordingly.
      • Example: If you finish in 2 hours and 30 minutes, you are paid for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  • Clean Freaks enforces a minimum charge of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • If a job takes less than 1.5 hours, you are still paid for the full 1.5 hours.

Overage Policy – (Exceeding THE Time Allowed)

If a home requires more time than scheduled:

  • You must call management at least 30 minutes before the scheduled end time
  • You must explain the need for additional time
  • The time must be approved by management or the client

⚠️ Going over the scheduled time without approval may result in non-payment for the additional time.

This does not permit leaving a home incomplete. You are still required to:

  • Call management, and
  • Finish the cleaning, unless otherwise directed.

Same-Day Cancellations

  • If a client cancels same day and the appointment is not replaced, you are paid for 1.5 hours.
  • If a replacement job is offered and you decline, you will not receive compensation.

TIP POLICY

At Clean Freaks, we appreciate our customers’ generosity and want to ensure tips are handled ethically, transparently, and in alignment with company policy.

CASH TIPS

Employees are welcome to accept cash tips. These do not need to be reported. However, to avoid confusion or unintentional violations:

  • The cash must be clearly intended as a tip, typically left in an obvious spot like a kitchen counter or dining table.
  • DO NOT take money found elsewhere (e.g., on a nightstand or in a drawer) unless it’s accompanied by a note clearly indicating it’s a tip.
      • Taking money without clear indication it is a tip will be considered theft and is grounds for immediate termination.
  • If there is any uncertainty, do not take the money and notify the office.

Credit Card Tips

Customers may choose to leave a tip via credit card at the time of payment.

  • 100% of the tip amount is added to the employee’s paycheck.
  • Tips will be paid out during the payroll period in which they are received.
  • Please note: credit card tips are taxable and will be reflected as such on your paycheck.

Electronic Tips (Strictly Prohibited)

Employees are not permitted to accept tips via Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, or any other electronic payment platforms.

  • This violates company policy and compromises both employee and customer privacy.
  • Sharing personal payment details with customers is strictly forbidden and will result in disciplinary action.

OTHER PAY & PROVISIONS

Wages may be withheld, docked, or garnished under the following conditions:

  • Suspension due to disciplinary action
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) taken in excess of accrued entitlement
  • Unapproved or unauthorized leave of absence
  • Payroll overpayments
  • Court-mandated wage garnishments for child support, back taxes, unpaid student loans, or other legal obligations

Clean Freaks will comply with all federal and state wage garnishment laws.

If your paycheck is lost or stolen, notify your supervisor or management immediately so the matter can be resolved.

OVERTIME

Overtime will be paid at your standard hourly rate, unless otherwise specified in writing by management or dictated by applicable labor laws. All overtime must be pre-approved by management.

PAY DISCREPANCIES

If you believe there is an error on your paycheck (e.g., missing hours, incorrect deductions), contact management immediately by phone or email. Any discrepancies will be investigated and corrected promptly if necessary.

FINAL PAY CHECK

Upon separation from Clean Freaks—whether due to resignation, termination, or job abandonment—your final paycheck will be issued on the next regularly scheduled payday.

Final pay will be processed via direct deposit, unless otherwise required by state law, and will include payment for all hours worked up to the separation date. Any applicable deductions, such as unreturned company property or outstanding balances, may be withheld as permitted by law.
